Abstract The main objective is to develop statistical models for genomic selection in Panicum maximum (autotetraploid forage), with the partnership of the Embrapa Beef and Cattle-Brazil. The training population consists in the basis cycle of intrapopulation recurrent selection of the Embrapa Breeding Program. The selection population will be the following cycles of the program. The base population for this program was formed by interbreeding 20 sexual plants, selected from two-parent populations. The phenotypic data were obtained in 600 individuals in eigth cuts, using augmented block design. The characters evaluated were: total dry matter, leaf and stem; percentage of leaf blade; leaf blade / stem; regrowth capacity and character of nutritional value. The genotypic data and SNP dosage information will be obtained using GBS protocol and SuperMASSA software, respectively. SNPs dosage information will be considered for development of models in order to investigate the importance of inclusion for the accuracy of genomic selection applied to polyploid species. Genotypic and phenotypic data will be applied to genomic selection models and included interaction Genotype x Cut effect. Models will be analyzed using frequentist and Bayesian approach. The best model to represent the variation in the data and prediction of genetic values of a particular character will be used for applying the selection of superior genotypes. Therefore, it is expected to reduce the time per selection cycle and increase the gain by recurrent selection program time unit as well as improve sexual plants of the Embrapa. (AU) | |
