Abstract

Introduction: biological and hereditary predisposition in Bipolar Disorder (BD) are universally accepted. However, experimental evidence shows that the family environment and parent-child interaction influence on physiological functions, children´s behavior and the gene's expression remain stable in the following stages of life and provide a basis for phenotypic plasticity. Studies with BD show that the decrease in parental care level can directly influence psychological development, which in turn can influence the development of psychopathology of these children, and so form a vicious cycle. Thus, in recent years therehas been growing scientific studies focused on characterizing the dysfunctional parenting as a risk factor and incorporating guidance for parental care in psychoeducation guidelines. Objectives: To investigate if there is any relationship between the way parents were raised and the way they raise their children, focusing on variables such as rejection, super protection and emotional support, in addition to characterizing the bipolar care and the care without bipolar. Method: 73 patients with children and BDI euthymic (YMRS d 12, HAMD d 7) aged between 18 and 40 years, treated at the clinic of the Affective Disorders Program (GRUDA) IPq-HC-FMUSP will be evaluated. As control two groups: 73 patients with other severe mental disorder under treatment at CAPES Del Rei - MG; 23 healthy volunteers from the physical and mental point of view, both between between 18 and 40 years. Control groups subjects will be matched for age and education with the experimental group. Assessment tools: Interview based on the model of Bipolar Disorder Brazilian Association to raise socio demographic data, clinical characteristics of the disease and treatments, SCID - CV, YMRS, HAM-D, EMBU-S (to access adult memories of theirparents rearing practices), EMBU-P (to assess adult´s relationship with their children), Responsiveness Requirement (to assess the relationship between parents and children with another source of information and scale), and SDQ (to evaluate the children´s psychopathology).
