Abstract

This project objective aims to obtain, along with FAPESP, the financial support for the accomplishment of an exchange program by means of the Foreign Research and Internship Scholarship (Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior - BEPE) in the United States of America, more precisely in the University of Southern California (USC) under the coordination of Professor PhD Nicholas Cull. It is an exchange that intends to follow up the former studies to understand how governance is exercised in this network of networks, their technical and national boundaries, the key players and the interaction between those in the construction of the Internet architecture from Brazil and from United States. In the exchange stage, the goal is to understand the points placed above based on a central country to the Internet, which underpins the development of the research: the United States, particularly in the region of California. The region takes the main place in this research due to its historical relevance to the Internet and its headquarters' concentration of major companies for the governance of the World Wide Web. This research in the United States will focus on increasing the technical knowledge of the Internet and its governance; perform reading and bibliographic review on this subject; and undertake empirical research from interviews and participation in specialized events.
