Abstract

The work proposed here aims at developing a system to record electrocardiogram (ECG) using mobile devices (mainly mobile phones). All efforts will be focused on lowering the price of the instrument and making it user's friendly. The system comprises two subsystems: the first one includes hardware and software to acquire standard 12-lead ECG for subsequent transmission via Bluetooth to a mobile phone. The second one will be a mobile phone application which will receive the ECG and chart it on the mobile's screen. Also, this will enable ECG transmission over the Internet to medical offices or hospitals. This approach to register the ECG has the potential to reduce costs as compared with traditionally expensive ECG machines. Furthermore, it will allow for communities living in countryside and small cities to have their ECG records examined by specialists commonly just available in big cities.
