Abstract

This research project has as main objective the development of a monitoring/measurement system that makes it possible to calculate the electricity consumption related to charge stations of electric vehicles that can be distributed in a city. Therefore, this meter will be designed to acquire both the instantaneous values of voltage and current of a particular charge station as well as the vehicle identification (Id). Thus, it is important to mention that the acquisition of these instantaneous values will be done through the use of Hall effect sensors. Furthermore, the identification of the electric vehicle must be obtained via ZigBee or Bluetooth communication channel in order to exchange data between the meter (charge station) and the onboard computer of the electric vehicle. In possession of the instantaneous voltages and currents, it becomes possible to calculate the electricity consumption (in kWh) that must be added to the electricity tariff of the consumer who owns the vehicle. Thus, both the electricity consumption and vehicle identification will be sent via Ethernet (using TCP / IP protocol) from the charge station to the utility. Em função da metodologia supracitada, pretende-se averiguar a taxa de amostragem ideal para este tipo de medidor (o qual torna-se especialista para estações de carregamento de veículos elétricos), bem como determinar a infraestrutura necessária para garantir que os dados sejam trafegados pelos canais de comunicação de forma eficiente. It is noteworthy that the utility will be represented by a software which will determine the price of electricity consumpted as well as done a query in the database to obtain more information about the consumer that has a relationship with the vehicle identification (Id). Thus, this price must be added to the monthly energy bill. Depending on the aforementioned methodology, we intend to investigate and determine the better sampling rate for this meter (which becomes expert to electric vehicles' charge stations) and determine the necessary infrastructure to ensure a minimal efficiency related to data traffic.
