Teeth displacement of upper and lower complete dentures under influence of microwave flask types

Abstract

The objective of this study will be to evaluate the movement of artificial teeth in upper and lower conventional complete dentures, processed with traditional and HH experimental microwave flasks. Standard models mounted on semi-adjustable articulator will be used for making plaster models and subsequent to this, the assembly of artificial teeth, and played 20 waxed prosthesis. Metal pins will be placed in the teeth as a reference for measurements pre and post-processing of the prosthesis, as follows: incisal edge of the upper and lower central incisors (I), buccal cusp of the upper and lower vestibular first premolars (PM), cusps mesiobucal upper and lower mesiobuccal second molar (M). The cross distances II (incisor to incisor); PM-PM (premolar to premolar) and M-M (molar to molar); anteroposterior LI-LM (left incisor to left molar) and RI-RM (right incisor to right molar) and vertical I-I, P-P, M-M, LI-LM and RI-RM will be measured with linear optical microscope STM (Olympus, Tokyo, Japan) with an accuracy of 0.0005 mm. The prosthesis will be randomized distributed to polymerization in microwave in groups (n=10): G1 - conventional flask and G2 - HH experimental flask. The acrylic resin will be inserted in the plastic stage in plastic flasks and processed in microwave with 1400 W power (20 minutes at 10% and 5 minutes at 30% of power). For the evaluation of teeth movement will be considered a change of occlusal contacts occurred in the distances of pre and post-processing of the prosthesis. The difference between the values initial and after polymerization will be considered to teeth movement. The results will be submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the differences analyzed by Tukey's test (5%).
