Abstract

Due to population aging, there is increasing demand for professionals trained to serve older people in their biopsychosocial characteristics. In this context, in 2009 the Undergraduate Program in Gerontology was established at the Federal Univeristy of São Carlos (UFSCar). Because it's a new course, the student may feel insecure about their field. Thus, this study aims to compare the perceptions of quality of life with the satisfaction with academic experience of undergraduates in Gerontology. This is a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional, quantitative approach, which will be held in the Gerontology Department of UFSCar. The students who agree to participate in this study, with the signing of the consent form, answer the following instruments: Instrument Characterization of the Subjects, Brazil Economic Classification Criteria, Academic Performance Index (IRA), the WHOQOL-bref quality of life instrument (WHOQOL-BREF), and the Scale of Satisfaction with Academic Experience (ESEA). The project was formally approved by the Ethics Committee in Research of UFSCar.
