Abstract

The Grupo Um, idealized by Zé Eduardo and Lelo Nazário brothers, was an important group in the history of Brazilian instrumental jazz. Active from 1976 to 1984, their operations are attached to a time of sweeping changes in the overall organization of the national music industry. With the use of printed sources in periodicals, oral testimonies and artistic set of their work, this project aims to trace the specificities inside their history and understand the relationship between the Grupo Um and this period of structural changes in the dynamics of experience in the universe of recorded music in Brazil.
