Abstract

Background: Consensual studies aim to add knowledge and expert experience on a topic with the scientific evidence available in an area. Neck pain is prevalent, disabling and costly, making it a major public health problem. Several studies have been performed in neck pain field. However, nor study has identified the gaps and neither emerging opportunities, never or poorly addressed in this area. Objective: The aim of this study is to identify and to rank the research priorities in primary care in neck pain. Methods: A modified-Delphi survey will be conducted in three rounds of questionnaires sent to the primary care Low Back and Neck Pain researchers who attended the XIII International Back Pain Forum, 2014, in Brazil and to researchers listed by Expertscape website. The first round will identify which of low back priorities formulated in the X International Forum For Primary Care Research On Low Back Pain can also be consider research priorities for neck pain and the respondents will be also asked to list the 5 most important current primary care-relevant research questions. The second and the third round will classify and rank these current research priorities. Expected Results: To identify the gaps in the neck pain research and list the most important research priorities in this field. These research agendas will guide researchers and funding agencies to conduct further research in the field of neck pain, thereby improving the quality and impact of research in the area of neck pain (AU)
