New manufacturing applications have focused on jointly using industrial automation technology and information technology in order to obtain greater efficiency, quality and productivity. In this context, a trend is the development of the industry 4.0, which represents the evolution of production systems through the interconnection and integration between systems and equipment, promoting the availability of the necessary information for the best production and management decisions. For the development and implementation of this new production approach, it is necessary the application of some recent technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), the IPV6 Internet Protocol and Cloud Computing. This project proposes the study and integration of RFID and IoT for monitoring applications and process improvement of a flexible manufacturing system. The development consists of three phases: RFID data acquisition, RFID data processing to obtain the production times of the manufacturing process and making the data available on the cloud for enabling the IoT. The integration of these technologies through the proposed infrastructure in this work will allow the cloud-based analysis and decision-making, enabling monitoring and improving the efficiency of the manufacturing process. These proposal activities are part of a research and development project between the UNESP Sorocaba and the Flextronics Institute of Technology (FIT) in Sorocaba.
