Abstract

During the American phase of the Institute for Social Research, the German philosopher Theodor Adorno, in the context of interdisciplinary research on the authoritarian personality phenomenon he wrote an important article which employing concepts of Freudian psychoanalysis to reflect about fascism on North American land. In this reflection, Adorno proposed, as implying the emotional involvement of the masses with the leader, a certain kind of farcical involvement, termed as imposture, which would have a key role to explain adherence to mass movements. A few years later, in his writings in the educational field, the philosopher emphasized the need for debarbarize in the educational field, understood as the dissolution of subjective coldness elements. Considering these two fields of study, this Project aims to articulate the concept of deception, originated from Adorno's critique of fascism, the imperative of debarbarize in the educational field, in order to explain the relevance of a critical self-reflection of subjective nature in the education field.
