Abstract

The objective is to apply the mate selection algorithm on a coho salmon dataset. It will be used pedigree information and economic index of 162.605 animals of the even and odd population of coho salmon from Chile. Will be used different scenarios in which the selection intensity is maintained equal to or different from mate performed; or different males may be selected and compared with the real scenario, as genetic progress and control of inbreeding. Different weights are assigned to the components included in the objective function to be optimized, as the genetic merit of future progeny, the coancestry and inbreeding. The comparison between different scenarios will choose the best objective function to be implemented in coho salmon breeding program in order to optimize the genetic progress and control the rate of inbreeding.
