Abstract

This project proposes to study the possible points of contact between the Bourdieu's concept of hysteresis (from habitus) and modernity, perceived here as a social paradigm, or in a Habermasian perspective, as an unfinished project. This is a theoretical project to understand how the concept of hysteresis could express the breakdown of social lived in modern times. At the same time, we would like to understand if and how modernity is linked to hysteresis contexts. Thus, the central hypothesis of this research is that a modernity also characterized by continuous and constant process of deconstruction would increase hysteresis contexts. As part of a research in social theory, methodology consists mainly of literature review linked to the two main concepts of research, namely Bourdieu with to hysteresis, and sociologists from the Critical Theory of modernity. We will use largely the work of the Scientific initiation research PIBIC / CNPQ "Bourdieu in the Physics laboratory: testing the concept of hysteresis" held in 2013/2014, dealing with reflections in a new problematic and theoretical framework.
