The increase of the cesarean section has became into an epidemic. In the last 30 years, a group of specialists in reproductive health, during a reunion promoted by the WHO in 1985, declared that "there is no justification for any region in the world have a rate of cesarean section higher than 10-15%". However, Brazil leads this ranking between the countries which most applies this procedure in the world. Between the factors associated in this medical intervention are born in private hospital, the rule "once a cesarean section always cesarean section" and the process of sterilization, besides high income and mother's education.
