Abstract

The kingship and the judiciary proceedings in Merovingian Gaul (fifth-eighth centuries)" is a research project which has the objective of study the actuation of the merovingian kings through their function on the justice operation. In this manner, three types of sources are utilized. They are: a law-code, probably edited in the beginning of the sixth century, called Pactus Legis Salicae; two collections of legal documents, the Formularies of Angers and Marculf (dated, respectively, between the sixth-seventh and the seventh-eighth centuries) and the principle work from the merovingian period, the historic narrative of Gregory of Tours, the Decem Libri Historiarum, from the end of the sixth century.
