Abstract

Osteoporosis is a systemic, multifaterial, progressive disease, characterized by the reduction of bone mass, deterioration and modification of the micro and macroarchitecture of bone tissue. For a long time, it was considered as a female disease, otherwise, has been recognized as a male disease too. Different from the osteoporosis in women, that in consequence of aestrogen deficiency after menopause, in men, this pathology is caused in decorrence of a reduction in bone neoformation. Therefore, the aim of this study will be to observe how is the behavior of the pathways involved in bone resorption and bone formation in rats with predisposition to osteoporosis, in male and female gender. To perform this study, 40 male and 40 female rats were divided in groups: Sham (20 male rats and 20 female rats), orchiectomy (20 male rats) and ovariectomy (20 female rats). The animals will be submited to right upper incisor extraction and will be divided in subgroups of 14 and 42 days of analysis after the surgery. Therefore, at 14 or 42 days after the tooth extraction, the animals will be submited to eutanásia in order to perform the evaluation of the dental socket in repairing process. Each subgroup will be divided in 5 animals to be submited to micro-CT analysis and the other 5 animals will be submited to gene expression. Evaluation. The quantitative data will be submited to normality curve in order to define the parametrical or non parametrical test, considering the 5% level significance.
