Abstract

This postdoctoral fellowship is related to a project coordinated by Silvia Lara and Lucilene Reginaldo, whose goal is to digitalize and make available documents produced by the 15th region of the Ministério Público do Trabalho, in Campinas. The project also has the objective of analyzing court cases contained in this collection that deal with workers subjected to conditions analogous to slavery. This information will be used in order to better understand the conceptual and legal definition of "slavery" in the contemporary world, forms of enslavement and the ways that these labor conditions are understood, by agents of investigations, by the accused ("cats", recruiters, agrobusinessmen, and entrepreneurs), and by the workers themselves. The postdoctoral fellow will also assist in carrying out the work of cataloguing and indexing the documents of this collection now in the process of being scanned. (AU)
