Abstract

Rifaximin is an oral antimicrobial, intestine - selective, with low level selection for mutations of resistant bacteria and no systemic with adverse effects compared to placebo. It is used for the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy, travelers' diarrhea, syndrome of irritable bowel, Clostridium difficile, ulcerative colitis and acute diarrhea. The rifaximin, until then, has no standardized analytical methods in most official compendia. This fact justifies new researches in this area. The objective of this project is (i) the development and (ii) validation of analytical method for the quantification of rifaximin tablets by capillary electrophoresis as well as perform (iii) forced degradation study of the pharmaceutical product in acid, basic, oxidative, neutral and photolytic media and (iv) evaluate the possible degradation products by capillary electrophoresis. The results will be published in international journal and disseminated in scientific event. This research offers a current theme, clean, innovative and extremely important for the quality control area of drugs and medicines.
