Abstract This project has the main objective of developing an route of insertion of graphene oxide (GO) in polymeric matrixes in order to obtain a good dispersion and maintain the structural integrity of the nanoparticle. Two polymeric matrices will be used: polypropylene (PP) and poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). Are being sought, especially, improvements in the mechanical and barrier properties. This insertion will be carried out in polymer matrices in the molten state, since it is desired for industrial processes with high production. Different screw configurations will be assessed from one standard configuration and two other configurations with elongational mixing device which allows to obtain dispersive mixing rates unattainable with standard mixing element. It will also be evaluated the rheological behavior of PP / PET and GO / GO systems by analysis in rotational and extensional rheometer to obtain sufficient information for effective production of plastic packaging and textile fibers. This project is part of a strategic plan for the beginning of an international collaboration between Mackenzie University and Case Western Reserve University, as well as strengthening of area of Composite Materials of Mackgraphe. This project is linked with the SPEC project (São Paulo Excelent Chair) "Graphene: photonics and opto-electronics" (FAPESP 2012 / 50259-8 process) directly with its activities of production and characterization of graphene as well as the dispersion of step graphene in polymer matrices. | |
