Abstract

Objective with the experiment validate the buffalo feed intake in growing supplemented or not in intermittent stocking grazing system through the electronic power supply (Intergado, MG, Brazil) and subsequent evaluation of the performance, carcass characteristics and economic analysis. Will be used 30 buffalo of Murrah with 10 ± 1 months old and about 206 ± 29 kg initial body weight, subjected to a completely randomized design. The pastor used will consist of grass Brachiaria (Syn. Urochloa) brizantha cv. Xaraés for both treatments and feed on the order of 0.6% of body weight only for treatment supplemented. In the beginning of the trial and then every 28 days, will be held weights of animals, hip height measurements, body condition score and using the ultrasound technique, rib eye area and fat thickness (12th rib ) and fat thickness of the rump (P8), to obtain performance related data. In addition, blood samples will be collected at the start, after the adaptation period and the end of the experiment to determine metabolic parameters such as glucose and insulin. It will be appreciated the dry matter intake of concentrated dry matter production and stool through the use of chromium oxide and titanium dioxide (0.2%, based on the dry natural) as external marker. To determine feeding behavior, the data captured through the electronic troughs and will be used, the animals are subjected to visual observation every 15 minutes for 8 periods of 24 hours each, comprising the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 am the next day. Financial analysis of the adopted production system will be accomplished by calculating cash flow. To compare the means will be used Tukey test. The data will be analyzed with the MIXED procedure of SAS (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA) and the average reported as least-squares mean (LSMEANS), being significant at p <0.05. (AU)
