Abstract

The vinasse orange, produced from the orange bagasse, even as the vinasse byproduct of alcohol production has been used as fertigation in areas cultivated with sugarcane. However, the increased use as fertilizer has caused problems, especially environmental. Studies have demonstrated that this practice has caused soil salinization (Christofoletti with. Comm.). Environmental effects of the availability of this substance can be evaluated through bioassays that aiming to estimate the toxic potential, reproduce the residue presence in water bodies. Therefore, this project proposes to conduct bioassays with orange vinasse using Oreochromis niloticus as a test organism, in order to assess the possible toxic and cytotoxic effects of this residue in the water.
