Abstract

The present research project focuses on the application of remote sensing techniques, as LIDAR - light detection and ranging, to measure atmospheric fugitive emissions associated with industrial activities. The study consists of:- Execution of a number of planned monitoring campaigns at industrial sites, aimed at the acquisition of data concerning industrial atmospheric emissions.- Development of data processing algorithms based on optical models and multivariate analysis, for the estimation of the concentration of important chemical species contained in fugitive emissions (aerosols, SO2, NOx, and volatile organic compounds).- Validation of the methodology based on the application of the algorithms to measure fugitive emissions in cases of interest.
