Abstract

Research on stress and caregiver burden has been conducted and interesting findings in this regard have contributed to this line of research has become classic in gerontology. On the other hand, studies on the benefits of the task of caring or deepening of variables associated with theoretical models of stress and overload showing possibilities of intervention can make important contributions to this area of knowledge. For this reason, the aim of this study is to compare the burden, the perceived stress and coping caregivers of patients diagnosed with some form of dementia who lived and not lived with the elderly during his childhood. It is a cross-sectional, descriptive and comparative study of quantitative character. The research will be conducted in Cognitive Neurology Outpatient Behavioral and UFSCar (ANEU), headquartered at the Municipal Center of Specialties of San Carlos-SP (CEME), with informal caregivers of seniors diagnosed with some form of dementia, confirmed after clinical evaluation by the physician Neurologist responsible for ANEU. Data collection will be conducted through individual interviews in the caregiver's home at a date and time previously scheduled. Will be used as instruments: a questionnaire to characterize the caregivers, the Coping Strategies Inventory, Inventory Caregiver overload of Zarit and the Perceived Stress Scale. The data will be analyzed using correlational and comparative estatítica. All ethical guidelines will be observed during the process of collecting and analyzing data. This project will strengthen the line of research "Elderly and family," the Health and Aging Research Group, led by guiding this project. (AU)
