Abstract

The research project seeks to understand the ressignification of democracy conception's process in the context of the Brazilian public opinion, in the period of 1989 to 2010. Given the need to understand and explain the citizen perception front the quality of democracy in Brazil in its various dimensions, the project will be fulfilled from a quantitative analysis of the answers given by the question For you, what is democracy? and also the questions that measure the opinion and satisfaction with democracy and its institutions.From the theoretical references that bring the definition of the concept of democracy, its quality and the legitimacy of such a regime in Brazil, working with the hypothesis that the perception of democracy takes place from the expectation and political experience of citizens, and is associated to the phenomena of satisfaction, evaluation, preference and trust and democratic institutions.
