Abstract

Under the Light of Economic Sociology and taking into account his postulate thatmarkets are social constructs, (Swedberg, 2004) this project aims to analyze thedevelopment of the funeral market in Brazilian society, considered the variousmarket types and the different moral judgments attributed to death. understand thedeath as total social fact that at the intersection of social, political,economic and legal within the Brazilian state, causing changes insymbolizes and material, creating new initiatives of production and consumption, productsand funeral services. The theoretical inspiration is the reflexive sociology of Pierre Bourdieu andthe concept of total social fact of Marcel Mauss. In terms of methodology, we willdata collection in the city of Campinas (Group Good Shepherd).
