Abstract

This study aims to investigate the purpose of domestic savings in the work of Celso Furtado. What this means, how it arises and how it can be used in Furtadian development model to overcome the Brazilian underdevelopment and its peripheral condition. The justification of the research lies in the relevance of investment capacity and financing that countries have. In a prominent position for race scenario in International Social Work Division of the greater investment capacity greater autonomy of countries to take strategic decisions that benefit them. Thus it is clear the need of developing countries such as Brazil, find ways to have an autonomous capacity to invest and compatible with the needs that a development project. The goal is to understand, in the Celso Furtado vision, which is the domestic savings and what its main features are. Then combining the Furtado ideas with others, investigate how to use domestic savings in the manufacturing process to fulfill one of the stages of overcoming underdevelopment. This work thus located within the political economy and its institutions, turning to a functional analysis: what is domestic savings in a process of economic development in a context of the periphery or semi-periphery capitalist? Thus, the environment of the Department of Economic, Financial and Tax of FADUSP is the best fit possible, since it was that institution which were inaugurated university studies of Political Economy in Brazil (Decree XI August 1827, creation of Law courses in the country) and currently has the area of Economic Law organized into two sub-areas: Economic Law and Political Economy. The methodology will be bibliographical research in producing a book of Celso Furtado.
