Abstract

This research project presents the proposal to develop a scientific investigation that approaches the Latin text, based on the theoretical tools provided by Linguistics, Semiotics and Modern Rhetoric, in order to focus mainly on its discursive dimension. With the corpus Letter X "Ariadne to Theseus", which integrates the Ovid's Heroides, the study will take enunciative operations, recognized from the text reading, as database to investigate the formal arrangement of language, responsible for the expression of the meaning effects of discourse. This investigation aims to produce a metalinguistic reflection that leads to better understanding of the discursive organization of the Latin text. This analysis and description of the text should focus mainly on the argumentative procedures and figures of speech, understood as persuasion resources. In addition, reference notes will be made for the Latin text, with comments regarding culture's general data (mythology, history, geography), required to a text fuller comprehension (providing, thereby, basic subsidies for the reading of the original text in Latin).
