Abstract

Competitive anxiety is an emotional reaction, expressed the somatic and / or cognitive level, that regularly appears before or during sports competitions, could bring significant impact on the performance of athletes. In view of the few validated instruments available for assessing the competitive anxiety, particularly in the Brazilian context, the study aim to present the cross-cultural adaptation process of the Sport Anxiety Scale-2 (SAS-2) for the Portuguese of Brazil and study its qualities psychometric validity and reliability. For this, the study will be divided into three distinct phases, namely: a) Phase 1 - Process of translation and adaptation of the SAS-2: translation, synthesis of translations, back translation, review by the Committee of Experts, pre-test and submission to lead author of the original article for final evaluation; b) Phase 2 - psychometric study of the SAS-2: sample of professional and amateur athletes over the age of 15 years in different sports (n = 100). It will analyze the internal consistency, concurrent and divergent validity, discriminant validity, exploratory factor analysis / confirmatory and test-retest reliability; c) Phase 3 - descriptive correlational study variables: involve sociodemographic and clinical variables of the sample, such as gender, sport, professional status / amateur, anxiety level, other indicators of psychiatric comorbidities and coping strategies. Data will be collected individually and analyzed using the SPSS statistical program, adopting for all analyzes, significance level of p lower or equal 0.05. (AU)
