Abstract

Performance measurement is a subject of interest in several areas of knowledge. The literature review shows a vast number of publications that explore manufacturing organizations and services. However, there is a certain lack of empirical research that examines junior enterprises, although they collaborate to develop new entrepreneurs in the country. In this research we discuss the relevance of this segment in the Brazilian socio-economic scene; the evolution of performance measurement systems that provides a multidimensional view and the recognition of statistical thinking as a support tool to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the actions and decision making in junior enterprises. This project aims to expand the scientific view about the use of performance measurements based on empirical evidences which allow describing the management approach adopted by these organizations. Therefore, it was planned a survey research to study the importance of using non-financial measurements in the evaluation of business performance. Moreover, it aims to identify if there are some advantage in the application of statistical approach to analyze performance metrics.
