Optimization and validation of method for endocrine disrupting chemicals analysis in tissues of Perna Perna mussels

Abstract

This project aims the optimization and validation of analytical method for analysis of endocrine disrupting chemicals: triclosan, methyl-triclosan, bisphenol A, 4-nonylphenol and 4toctylphenol in tissues of the bivalve Perna perna. This proposal is based in current post doctoral research (FAPESP n. 2012/17898-7) that investigate the occurrence of these contaminants in marine sediments from 7 submarine sewage outfalls in São Paulo State coast. The method optimization will be based on QuEChERS, using the d-SPE PSA and C18. Extracts will be quantified by Gas Chromatography (GC-MS/MS). Method validation will proceed through linearity, accuracy and precision and determination of matrix effect. Obtained results will be applied on quantification of these contaminants in P. perna tissues from a bioaccumulation bioassay as part of PD project associated and can also be used as important tool in future environmental assessments.
