The study will consist of a cross-sectional or prevalence study, in which the oral health conditions of 120 individuals will be evaluated (n = 40): 40 subjects diagnosed with BD, which make use of lithium for over one year, 40 diagnosed with BD, which They do not make use of lithium for more than 5 years, 40 diagnosed with schizophrenia. Each volunteer will undergo clinical examination, anamnesis and radiographic examination (wide and interproximal). It will also be performed saliva test for evaluation of saliva consistency, pH measurement and saliva flow rate, buffer capacity and analysis of ions. Data from clinical and salivary tests (except ion analysis) will be analyzed by non-parametric Mann-Whitney test and the chi-square test. The data obtained by ion analysis will be submitted to the premise of tests to determine the homogeneity and normality. From this analysis will be chosen the most appropriate statistical test for comparison between the experimental groups performed at 5% significance level.
