Abstract The postdoctoral research in development aims to compare the musical productions by two very relevant characters in the history of Chile and the United States, Violeta Parra and Woody Guthrie. The central focus of the approach is the thematic of their artistic and musical works, paying attention to the place of the folklore in them and the relation of their songs with the aesthetic, political and social issues on the agenda throughout their lives. To continue this research I am requesting the scholarship "Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior (BEPE)" for four months, in order to carry out activities at Temple University, in Philadelphia, in the United States, under supervision of PhD Professor Pablo Vila. In view of his experience as a professor, a scholar linked to many projects involving the music in the Americas, as well as the authorship of many books and articles about the theme, widely known in the Sociology, Latin American Studies, History, Popular Culture and Musicology areas, I believe that he will contribute meaningfully to the project in development. The academic internship will also allow me to intensify the interchange of ideas with international research groups at the same time I publish my research, gather suggestions to improve it and increase the knowledge about the topic of study. This academic internship of medium term in the United States was already foreseen in my initial research project approved by this funding agency. | |
