Abstract

Bamboo has some characteristics that makes it an interesting material to be researched, such as: tropical, perennial and renewable plant, good to kidnap the carbon from the air, presents good mechanical properties and grows quickly without the necessity to replant the culms. More recently, the bamboo has been studying as an element that can be used as a kind of reinforcement into the concrete. The use of tire rubber residue in the concrete emerges as a possibility of attenuating the environment impacts because it is generated in great amount and, furthermore, this residue can provide a greater deformation capacity, although there are studies that show that this inclusion can cause a decrease in compressive strength, a decrease in workability of the mixes and an increase in entrained air content. Using a concrete with addition of tire rubber residue, it is proposed, in this work, to evaluate the structural behavior of Bambusa vulgaris bamboo splints, available in the city of Ilha Solteira-SP, when subjected to pullout tests, and when inserted as an additional reinforcement to reinforced concrete beams. The splints will be sealed with latex, which is a natural rubber obtained from rubber trees, and, due to the fragility of the node of bamboo, bamboo pieces will be glued with a castor resin, at these points, as a type of reinforcement.
