Abstract

The actual global epidemiological picture presents technical and economic issues that challenges the overcome of chronic diseases. Chronics ulcerations in diabetic patients are a good example of it: the impaired healing, the lack of painful sensibility and constant trauma create a cycle in which the scarcity of resources for appropriate treatment corroborates the worsening of the wound. The project aims to evaluate the therapeutic possibilities of hBMSC-TERT cells in experimental Diabetes models. Winstar rats with streptozotocin induced Diabetes will be submitted to a lesion procedure for posterior hBMSC-TERT multiple applications. Thus, TGFbeta, TNFalfa, VEGF, NFkB levels will be measured as predictors of wound healing process. The resulting data will be compared among experimental groups and statistically evaluated. The expectations are the improvement of wound treated with stem cells as well as the balance of the cytokines. (AU)
