Abstract

The main goal of this project is to investigate the studies on History of books and reading based on the research of inventories post-mortem. To understand the meaning of private acquisition of books and the formation and circulation of ideas during the second half of 19th century in São Paulo it is essential to get acquainted with the literature and conceptual, methodogical and historiographic debates in the field. The French researchers and study centers are the first ones in this area producing up today remarkable advances. (AU)
