Abstract

Mother-infant relationship should be harmonious and when this occurs it has a healthy influence on the development of the child. The mother-infant interaction happens in multiple situations, such as care and ludic interactions. This study intends to describe and analyses the mother-infant interaction focused on situations of care such as hygiene, feeding, sleeping and ludic activities. Data will be collected from 20 mothers of babies of 4-6 months of age that attended to the extension project "Monitoring the development of babies: Evaluation and orientation for parents. The location of the study is situated in the Centre of Applied Psychology of Estate University of São Paulo, Bauru. The gathering of sociodemographic data was made using eraser, 1 mobile, 1 rattle, diapers and baby wipes. While to obtain the evaluation of the babies' interaction with their mothers was used the Revised System of Codification of Mother-Child Interaction (CIMTMI-R). The interactions will be recorded in an infant room of the Centre provided with a tall bed (120cm), pillows and toys. The filming session will last approximately 20 minutes spitted into: 2 minutes of habituation and 8 minutes to free interaction. Afterwards, the mother will be instructed to change the diaper of the baby, using the tall bed. The mother and the baby will be recorded during this activity. The analysis of the record will be according to CITMI-R by the researcher and a second observer. The duration of filming will be divided in episodes of 5 seconds. In the first interval the observer starts describing the behavior of the infant and from that point on it should be followed by the flux of the behavior of the mother and of the infant along the episode. The same analysis will be taken with data obtained from the record of the ludic activities and change of diapers. However, as long as these activities have no fixed duration the number of the episodes can differ, for that reason, the data will be reviewed before comparative analysis. It will be processed statistical, descriptive and comparative analysis.
