This Project seeks to discuss the metapoetry in Cecilia Meireles' verses. Such notion will be discussed in order to question the fragility of describing a poet only as part of the literary concepts established by a group of writers. Even more in Celilia Meireles' case, unquestionable historiographical descriptions, such as modernism or symbolism, can't encompass the complexity and the dynamics of her work. The intention is to arrive, thus, in an idea of metapoetry in Meireles from the reading and the analysis of poems that come together to obtain a common theme and formulate questionings about the own poetry. This corpus of poem already preselected will be analyzed in dialogue with the collection of criticisms about the poetess. A lot of scholars, if they did not analyze specifically this project's subject, they also did not despise it. Up to this moment, metapoetry is verified as a poem that expresses its art, creating a particular way of combining pictures and a way of practicing the rhythm and a way of drawing, ultimately, the own configuration of poetry. As an example of process of analysis that will be developed, this project anticipates the detailed analysis of the poem "Romance LIII ou das Palavras Aéreas."
