Abstract Isoscalar (neutron-proton) correlations have been found experimentally to dominate the high momentum component of the nuclear wave function and are expected to play an important role in determining the characteristics of the surface region of nuclei far from stability. Similar large neutron-proton correlations are seen in studies of quasi-deuteron pairing in nuclear matter, but are restricted to the regions of low density or nearly isospin symmetric matter. We plan to implement quasi-deuteron pairing in a relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov code for finite nuclei and to analyze its effects on stable and exotic nuclei. (AU) | |
