The influence of the variable sex on the anxious symptoms in 13 years old adolescents

Abstract

The adolescence is a period understood between the 10 and 19 years, being a transition period between the childhood and the adult age. In that phase several puberty transformations , that unchain changes physical, social, psychological and cognitive happen that turn the most vulnerable adolescents to the occurrence of emotional and psychological disorders. In that sense, the anxiety upset, characterized by fears and excessive anxieties, it is the most common third party in the adolescence, so that the prevalence of this is differed as for the individuals' sex.Of this it sorts things out, this study has as objective verifies the influence of the variable sex on the anxious symptoms in a sample of 250 students of 13 years of the interior of state schools of São Paulo, besides accomplishing a characterization of the anxious symptoms in relation to the total scores and their subscales. The schools will be selected randomly, as well as the participant groups. The used instrument will be Spence Children's Anxiety Scale (SCAS) adapted for the Portuguese. The data will be analyzed in statistical programs like Statistical Package is Social Sciences (SPSS), version 17.0 and R. It will be considered the level of significance of 0,05 and interval of trust 95%. This project is part of a larger project accomplished by the Laboratory of Research and Intervention Cognitive-Behavior (LaPICC - USP).
