Abstract

Bovine tuberculosis is a disease distributed worldwide and has a negative impact in the livestock production parameters. Currently, many Brazilian states state are endemic for bovine tuberculosis and requires further research to help better understand the spatial distribution of the disease and the characteristics associated with the transmission of Mycobacterium bovis between cattle farms. The objective of this study is to evaluate the spatial distribution of the proprieties positive to tuberculosis and the risk factors associated with the bovine movement network parameters in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil. The databases that will be used correspond to the last epidemiological study of tuberculosis conducted by the Agricultural and Forest Protection Institute of Espírito Santo (IDAF) and animal movement guides of Espírito Santo of years previous to 2016. The spatial identification of tuberculosis outbreaks will be carried out using a function that estimates a kernel density with surfaces relative risks, which uses the location of the reported properties with animals positive and negative to tuberculosis. The Animal movement network will be built with: origin, destination and date of the cattle movements between the properties of Espírito Santo. Subsequently individual parameters of the properties within the network will be identified (Degree, Centralization by intermediation Centralities by proximity, clustering coefficient and PageRank), in order to relate these parameters with the cases of bovine tuberculosis recorded within the properties. At the end of this study, it intends to obtain relevant data to support programs to prevent and control the disease in this state, as well as test methods to be applied in other parts of Brazil, including São Paulo.
