Abstract

In view of climate change, shifts in pluviometric patterns around the globe are expected, causing drought in some regions and increased rainfall in others. In this sense, plants of great commercial interest as sugarcane should be the subject of research in the investigation for greater productivity and, essentially, of better adaptation conditions against future climate changes. It is known that microorganisms that develop near plant roots, or the called rhizosphere, can influence growth and development of these plants through a variety of mechanisms, for example promoting mobilization of nutrients, increasing minerals absorption, stimulating plant growth and suppressing pathogens. Thus, this work aims to use bioinformatics methods to analyze data generated in large-scale sequencing of metatranscriptome of sugarcane rhizosphere subjected to water stress. Therefore, the taxonomic and functional profile of active microbiota will be characterized, in addition to study differential gene expression induced by water stress and, finally, analyzing genetic regulatory networks generated from the obtained data. This project fits within the FAPESP Regular Grant called "Effects of elevated concentration of CO2 and water stress in the microbiota associated with sugarcane rhizosphere" (FAPESP 15 / 00408-5 process) and belongs to the FAPESP Research Program on Global Climate Change - RPGCC. It is expected, in this way, providing support to development of sugarcane's culture and important tools for handling this biological system. (AU)
