Abstract

Tied to the thematic project FAPESP 2014/11611-3, "Public sphere and reconstruction: on the constitution of the reconstructive paradigm inside the Critical Theory ", this post-doctoral research intends to investigate the following hypothesis: one of the central aspects of time's diagnosis, developed by Th. W. Adorno during the 1960s, is the notion of democracy - a notion that was little worked in the bibliography on his thought. This research intends to investigate how the notion of democracy appears in his work, organizing and allowing that Adorno points to the potential of resistance to the full integration in the late capitalism. In the same time, notions such as majority [Mündigkeit], culture and experience, and the education field, appear all as a constellation of resistance in the social democratic order. Therefore, it would be possible, following the Adorno's work written during the 1950s and 1960s, to reconstruct a notion of public sphere in the democratic conditions, which points to the potential of resistance. This diagnosis presents many differences, when it is compared to the diagnosis of Dialectic of Enlightenment (1947). (AU)
