Abstract

The development of new techniques for the success in endodontic treatment has been searching new technologies. For that, the field of nanotechnology had performed a physical support as scaffolds to hold cells, contributing to the regeneration of dental pulp. Furthermore, the research and development of new phytotherapy materials had been extensively studied due to the increase of microorganisms resistant to conventional antibiotics. This study aims to evaluate the biocompatibility a scaffold associated with the natural extract of Punica granatum (pomegranate). For biocompatibility tests, it will be performed tests on DPSC cells, stem cells from the pulp of permanent teeth. Cytotoxicity will be evaluated by Alamar Blue assay, a colorimetric test that verifying the metabolic activity of the cell in a spectrophotometer (570 nm). For the genotoxicity evaluation will be used the micronucleus test, which analyzes under a nuclear microscope (100X) the changes resulting from chromosomal fragmentation. Statistical analysis will be performed by ANOVA and Tukey's tests (significance level of 5%).
