Abstract

In this BEPE project, I propose an extension of my PhD researches - a critical analysis of the Brazilian female artistic production in the decades of 1960 and 1970, within the assumptions of feminist theories of cultural criticism, and emphasis on the possibilities for female subjectivity through artistic practice. In the development of the investigations during my first two years in FE-USP, it was able to verify a considerate number of female artists that was also travelers and students abroad, especially in New York City - a movement very common for this generation of artists due political persecution, or for interest in studies abroad. My assumptions is that, during theirs stays in the city, what kind of contact and information about feminist and art that women had access, and if this kind of knowledge had interfered in their works.
