Abstract

Catalysts with pyrochlore structure will be developed to produce syngas from dryreforming of methane (DRM). The pyrochlore structure contributes to the reduction ofactive metal sintering and deactivation by carbon deposition, which are the mainproblems in the DRM. Due to the lack of information in the literature on preparationand application of compounds with pyrochlore structure in heterogeneous catalysis, thiswork will be focused on a systematic and pioneer study comparing several preparationmethods to synthesize the La2Ce2-xNi0,5xO7-´ pyrochlore structure with 1 and 5% w/w Ni.The following five routes will be employed and the results compared: modified Pechini;sol-gel; precipitation; glycine-nitrate combustion and hydrothermal methods. It isexpected with this work achieve active and stable catalysts for the reaction of RSM withno significant carbon deposition. It is also expected to relate the physical and chemicalproperties obtained by the different synthesis methods with the performance of thecatalyst in the reaction of methane dry reforming.
