Abstract

In computational mechanics, the usage of contact modeling is frequent for practical engineering applications. The models are being developed, leading to the possibility of simulation of more realistic scenarios. In the context of finite element modeling, among the classical contact formulations named "node-node" and "node-surface", new possibilities for establishing contact models emerge, with the aid of "master-master" formulations, in which no master-slave distinction is made for contacting-surfaces. Such subject was initially proposed for contact between beams, represented by spatial curves. During last years, advances were done to consider contact between beams in a more elaborated manner, assuming the interaction between two parameterized surfaces, representing the exterior contour of beams. The advantage is the possibility of establishing complex kinematics with one only contact pair. This project proposes the continuation of such development, with the objective of generalizing the "master-master" technique for problematic situations, such as conformal surfaces contact. This advancement represents a way to generalize the technique for a new broad of applications, such as contact involving shells and solids.
