Abstract

Spirituality is acknowledged by the scientific literature as a factor that may beneficially influence several aspects of patient's health. Additionally, patients want that physicians approach the spirituality in many settings. Nonetheless, although their benefits and the patients' wish, spirituality is not yet assessed by the majority of physicians in their medical practice. This study aims to analyze how medical residents of several Brazilian states approach spirituality in their routine, and the factors that make this approach easier or difficult. Thereby, we hope to contribute in the elaboration of further teaching strategies that take into account factors that proved to be relevant in the approach of spirituality in medical practice.
