Abstract

The improvement of therapeutic techniques applied to veterinary medicine has contributed to the constant improvement of prognosis of disease. The use of radioactive sources in human radiotherapy is already established procedure in the field of oncology. However, in veterinary medicine, radiation therapy still presents an incipient way, although the benefits achieved with clinical practice, has attracted interest from several research institutions in various areas. Radioactive molds in polymeric bases can be made in different geometries and dimensions, which favors its applications in veterinary. In this work radiotherapy is intended to evaluate the use of planar radioactive molds made of polymer matrices that can be applied in veterinary medicine. First we will study the radiometric properties of radioactive sources of radioactive sources used in human radiotherapy targeting the necessary adjustments to veterinary application. The feixos will analyze high-energy electrons and gamma-ray beams from radioactive sources of gold-198, strontium-90 and iridium-192. Radiometric studies will be conducted in clinical radiotherapy of Unimed Hospital of Bauru. The development of polymeric matrices and applications testing in veterinary injuries will be held, respectively, in the chemical laboratory and the Veterinary Hospital of the Araçatuba Unisalesiano. The feasibility of using new developed mold may be an effective therapy for the field of veterinary medicine. (AU)
