Abstract

Energy is a major concern today due to the increase in demand and population, and the impacts to the environment associated with the use and exploitation. In addition, the energetic matrix in the world is based on fossil fuels, which causes availability problems, geopolitical disputes, and deterioration of health and the environment. Thus, it is important to conduct studies to understand the production and consumption patterns in order to evaluate possible future scenarios taking in to account the availability of each source, the development needs and the reduction of environmental impacts. This project seeks to identify trends in the use of various sources of energy depending on the demands and the associated impacts. With the construction of tables and scattering plots from available data by government and non-governmental organizations, a study will be conducted with the variation of the energy matrix of Brazil between 2006 and 2015, seeking correlations among proven reserves, production and oil consumption in several countries. Finally environmental and economic indicators will be incorporated in the analysis made. (AU)
