Abstract

The proposed study aims to conduct a comparative analysis between the works Open Veins of Latin America and Genesis, Eduardo Galeano's books, in order to understand to what extent these productions are different and similar in terms of genre - between essays and stories -, and the way each one of them reflects characteristics of contexts in which they emerged, mainly from the voice given to silenced Latin American groups. It aims to understand, also, how these texts intend to impact the imaginary of Latin American, from a new possibility of historiography about the continent, which is based mainly on a collective memory. For this, we used propositions about comparative literature, cultural studies and analyses focused on the formation of Latin America from the subaltern perspectives and settings about memory. (AU)
